I sucked in the cold afternoon air…
Our tour group had been checked into their rooms and I needed to walk….. the day had been long but fun.
Arriving in Sconser ferry terminal we had chatted for thirty minutes…reminiscing about our trip around Scotland…. But we were all excited about the fifteen minute ferry trip over to our island haven of Raasay.
Having arrived there, I wanted to walk down to the pebbly beach on the north side of our hotels estate and grounds.
Cycle racks stood invitingly alongside wet suits and beach towels as I looked for the small trail that led me to the cliff top and down to the sea.
The pebbles on the beach were wonderfully colourful….greys, purples, golds, blues and every other colour of the rainbow. I thought to myself about the incredible age and geological processes that had gone into making this gorgeous spectacle.
Finding a large purple and green conglomerate, I sat down.
I looked out over the sea…..
Such an amazingly beautiful sea I had never seen. The water was Prussian blue and clear…. I could see the seaweed drifting underneath the gentle tidal swell.
I sucked in the cold afternoon air. It was good!
Peeling off my boots, I stood up …. and cursed….. I hadn’t brought any swimwear with me. Unerringly I walked down to the waters edge and into the sea.
My jeans got wet and I chuckled at myself.
I looked off across the water and stared at the rugged mountains of Skye. White clouds drifted over the peaks and the stunningly blue sky framed the sun as it smiled at me.
It dropped lower in the sky!
I shook myself……. Nearly an hour had drifted by and I hadn’t noticed. I was in the ‘moment’.
A beautiful moment.
