Mark Seymour

Mark Seymour - I’m a Brit who lived for many years in the USA and France, which has resulted in a passion for my own shores… the British Isles! The landscape, the history, the architecture, the food, and even more importantly….THE PEOPLE.. are all incredibly important to me. The tours I create and lead will immerse you in a cultural experience like no other, as you get to know some ‘locals’, and see their way of life through their eyes. Read my blog to know more about me.

I love what I do and I feel that every day I get to hand out gifts to my tour members…. gifts of learning and experience and ‘knowing’. We become wiser through travel…join us !

Elizabeth Boardman - I am passionate about the beautiful British Isles and am a local of Bath - an exciting UNESCO city created through centuries of history in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the southwest of England.  Throughout my life I have been completely immersed in English weather, tea, irony, understatements, and eccentricity; all of which I love to share with my guests.  Throughout my years of being a professional guide and tour advisor it always remains a privilege to share your adventure and experience when you visit, and I look forward to meeting you soon with Seymour Travels small group tours.  Let’s make some memories to last a lifetime…..

I love nothing better than to be out walking The Cotswolds. Am doubly lucky that as a guide I get to show people around our beautiful country and find the secret places, like dry stone walled villages that time forgot, introduce our visitors to the local characters and learn about ancient customs. History and wildlife are the things I love best but being a guide means I am always learning. That makes me three times lucky in just one paragraph!

I’ve certainly had my share of travelling experiences. Exploring Asia and Australasia for 2 years would rank amongst them. Back in the days when ‘Lonely Planet’ was an essential extra, discovering new cultures, climates and foods, people and religions was an amazing experience. Seeing at first hand the diversity that mankind has to offer was a real eye opener. The only thing missing, in those days was a tour guide.

France has been my home for 21 years and thanks to my business i’ve been able to return to Asia on a regular basis. Here in France I’ve lived in the Loire Valley and Brittany, but I was born and bred in Yorkshire, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. :-) It will be a pleasure to teach you about France and England and I look forward to meeting you !

And we also very proud to be working collaboratively with our European friends and colleagues in Europe.

What People Are Saying !

“This tour exceeded all of my hopes and expectations! This was my first trip to Europe, and I had been wanting to see England all of my life. I was so impressed by the level of planning, preparation, and professionalism that went into this whole tour. Our tour guide, Liz, made everything so easy and accessible for us, and everything we did or saw, was fun and/or educational, and left me in awe of the history, and life in these villages we were experiencing..”

“So many special events and sights/sites every day. The most unexpected activity was when Liz gathered us on the beach and explained the basic rules of cricket to a group of Americans :) What resulted was, possibly, the worst game of cricket in the history of the game, but what marvelous fun we all had in the process! Also, the privilege of seeing the Cathedral as only God, the pigeons, and stonemasons typically get to see it - from atop scaffolding higher than the roof!”

“Excellent. Mark is an amazing guide. He has just the right balance of giving us information when it's wanted/needed, and also allowing us to independently travel as well, and explore on our own, armed with what we need to know to make the most of our time. I've done 4 other tours now, and Mark was the best guide so far”

“Well paced tour of a beautiful part of England. Good combination of villages and larger cities. I would certainly return to do another tour based on this one.

Wales, Gareth, his family, his sheep farm in Snowdonia and the Carneddau ponies. A beautiful and wild place and a very interesting and thought-provoking afternoon with this farming family. We talked agriculture, sustainable farming, EU controls, Brexit, and the importance of community in this farming district. The sheep herding display was, of course, hilarious and our volunteers were stand-up people for getting out there and getting the job done! Special thanks to Mark”

“Very enjoyable tour. Lorraine is an exceptional guide. Always hard to move on from place to place as there is so much more to see/do. Hotels were comfortable, breakfasts exceptional, and fellow travelers fun to travel with. So enjoyed seeing the countryside and the small towns we drove thru. Seems that Roman ruins, abbeys, & castles are everywhere! ”

“The tour was everything we hoped for. It was our first Rick Steves tour and we are happy we chose it. Previously we have traveled much of Europe and some in England on our own, but wanted to try a longer comprehensive approach this time and that's what we got. Having all of the arrangements like hotels, transportation and venues all made and paid for in advance was terrific. The tour leader, Mark, made it so easy, all we had to do was manage our luggage and show up on time for activities.

The best part of the trip, outside of all of the sites and places was the historical commentary of Mark, our tour leader. His extensive knowledge of all of the places and people connected to our journey made the tour so special and worthwhile. Thank you Mark!”

“The tour was great. Our group was very friendly and we enjoyed being a happy band of travelers with them. The itinerary was very interesting and provided a good understanding of the history and culture of Scotland. We enjoyed meeting Scottish folks and found them to be very friendly and willing to help or just talk about "stuff". Nigel was flawless in his leadership and everything went very smoothly. ”

“The guides were fabulous, pleasant, good sense of humor and informative. I felt that they really cared about our enjoyment and their enthusiasm about showing us their country was quite apparent. The extra perks, like walking through the fields, sharing ice cream later and learning so much about the customs of their county. Liz was generous with answering our questions and anticipated some things we were interested in but didn't ask.”
