The Atmosphere Is Wonderful !
Many of you wouldn’t associate Bath with a Christmas market……. Well let me tell you of this hidden gem.
You probably do know of Bath as a Roman town, a Georgian town, or you’ll know it for its abbey and its architecture……. It’s crowds of visitors in the Summer.
However, for British people….. certainly those who live in the South West…. It will also be know as a city in which to spend a few days during the ‘festive season’.
British Christmas is known the world over for its ‘atmosphere’. Think Ebenezer Scrooge, Santa Clause stuck in the chimney, carol singers, and plum pudding. I’m sure you know of these things too.
Now, I want you to imagine the beautiful streets of Bath bedecked with lights, music being piped through the city, and the smell of hot pasties, hot wine steaming in the frosty coolness……….
170 stallholders all ’hawking’ and selling their festive goods.
It’s a huge Christmas market that meanders like a colourful snake, through the city. Strasbourg is famous the world over for its market….with only 100 stalls! Bath isn’t good at promoting itself for Winter visits.
The atmosphere is wonderful…. And very British!
Brits are a happy, jovial people and this is the time of year when they spill into the streets and show it. It’s a great place to be
We’ll be enjoying it again this year with another small group. Nearly a week in Bath with another few days in London…. I can’t wait
