In The Cotswolds
Hairy cows munching on rosebuds in the Cotswolds.
We had just disembarked from our vehicle, and like a gaggle of geese were walking excitedly into Stow ( on the Wold).
‘Lunchtime’, I shouted out to everyone…… most dispersed and went in search of a quick lunch. I and three others were engaged on a discussion about the life and times of JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis, when lo’ and behold, these wee beasties appeared, carving their way through traffic and making a beeline for this little cottage !
With cameras clicking and our discussion forgotten, I left them ’cooing’ to the coos, and wandered into the village. I wanted a sandwich, so I headed to the bakers.
‘Good morning’, Sam bellowed out to me as I entered his Cotswoldian bakery…..’Hi’ I responded, with a warm smile.
He knew what I wanted and began to make me a cheese and pickle sandwich, using, my favoured, vintage Cheddar cheese.
‘There you are’, he said.
I took it off him, used the card swipe to pay for it and walked across the square towards a little coffee shop.
I sat outside, facing the market square and sipped on a double espresso….deeeelicious!
Relaxing, as I watched people busying themselves in the village, I tore off a piece of my sandwich and chewed on the crust, hungrily.
Life can be good !
