10 Day North West Wales Tour Itinerary 2025
April 5th - April 14th
I have chosen to run this tour out of one location as there is so much to experience in this part of the world. For those who have already been there, this is a real chance to do more than scratch the surface and immerse yourself in Wales. 9 nights at our hotel in the fortified town of Conwy.
Day 1 Welcome to Conwy. We’ll meet in the hotel lounge at 4pm then embark on a group orientation and stroll along the promenade. We’ll get acquainted over dinner together this evening.
Day 2 We’ll visit a hill farm today … but this will be a little bit different. Yes, you’ll see sheep and dogs ... but we’ll use 4x4s to get the group up onto the top of the Carneddau mountains to enjoy spectacular views of a Bronze Age land/seascape. A Welsh harpist will be part of our itinerary today. And a real treat will be a delicious lamb meal prepared by the farmer’s wife.
Day 3 Today we’ll explore Wales’ ancient past with the aid of our own historian and archaeologist. Visiting some enigmatic sites, we’ll try to come to terms with how our forefathers lived.
Day 4 Join us today as we disappear into the hills and explore some lesser known Welsh castles. This is a very unique opportunity to learn a little more about the Welsh and their history ... not the English version. Tonight we’ll relax over dinner together.
Day 5 Wrap up warm today as we go for a cruise out into the Irish Sea and the Menai Straights. We’re going to examine the coastline of this gorgeous part of the British Isles on our own RIB boat (high speed inflatable). Later this afternoon a Welsh language class will be held … a bit of fun for all.
Day 6 Anglesey awaits. I’ve enlisted the aid of a local lady, who will join us for the drive around Anglesey, telling tales of her family and a bit about the people of this remote region. I’ll provide my input on some of the great archaeological sites on the island. We’ll enjoy a pub meal together today.
Day 7 Today is our rest day. We’ll provide the transport to get you into Conwy, Caernarvon or wherever you may wish to go. Or perhaps you prefer to kick back and enjoy a stroll out onto the Victorian Pier or walk up onto Great Orme.
Day 8 This morning we’ll drive up to Mount Snowdon in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. We’re going to embark on a beautiful walk up the backside of this mountain. The trail is good and easy... and spectacular. A picnic lunch will be provided. Bring good walking shoes!
Day 9 Wales is known for its slate, and some of you may have visited this area and seen the piles of discarded ‘slag’ lying on the hills. We shall explore this subject in depth today. We’re going into the bowels of the earth on a cog rail car, into a slate mine ... deep deep down ! After an underground presentation, then time to grab lunch. An astounding landscape await. We’ll enjoy a special dinner on this last evening of our wonderful tour together.
Day 10 The tour ends after breakfast today, but rest assured I’ll make sure that you have transport back to the local train station or will be able to offer advice and help if you are continuing your stay. There you have it. I’ve mixed some walking with some sightseeing, the environment, archaeology, and of course, adventure into this tour. I know everyone will love it and the very small group adds to what will be a tremendous experience and something you’ll never forget.
