Enjoy Your Gardens Tour - Middle England And Cotswolds
10 Day guided tour - June 2nd - June 11th
Day 1 We’ll meet for a tour briefing and dinner in our Cotswold hotel. This will be our home for the duration of the tour….wonderful !
Day 2 Not for from our hotel base is the village of Winchcombe, and close to it are the beautiful gardens of Sudeley Castle. A great way to start our tour. Enjoy the gardens, the house and perhaps even a walk along a Cotswolds country footpath. Free for dinner tonight.
Day 3 After breakfast we shall head to Hidcote Gardens. A premier ‘English’ garden, snuggling into the landscape, its a ‘must’.
Day 4 The gardens at Blenheim Palace are extensive and of international renown. We shall enjoy a garden tour that will enable us to learn more about Capability Browns famous gardens, as well as the more formal gardens around the house. Lunch in the estate means that you’ll also have a chance to visit the house.
Day 5 Enjoy a delicious breakfast before we drive to Kingston Bagpuize…It awaits!…. A small house and gardens which were laid down in 1919 by Miss Raphael who had just moved from London. She had been heavily influenced by her recent travels to China, Japan, Canada and South Africa…. Enjoy !
Day 6 Something a little different today… we shall pay a visit to Lacock Abbey, along with its gardens and the village ‘allotments’… a community garden. Understand why the English love to garden by speaking with a local gardener. Free for dinner tonight.
Day 7 After enjoying breakfast we shall drive across to Rousham House and Gardens. Another array of 18thC gardens that are splendidly set in a beautiful landscape…. a place to enjoy.
Day 8 Lets visit one of Englands most well known arboretums… Westonbirt! After which we’ll head over to Bowood Gardens and House. A beautiful day to walk and enjoy the flora !
Day 9 Iford Manor and the Peto Garden is waiting for us to explore. Located close to Bath and internationally renowned for its Italiante gardens, Harold Peto made the manor his home in 1899. The gardens boast terraces, pools, cloisters statuary and remarkable views. Tonight we shall enjoy dinner together.
Day 10 The tour is over after breakfast. We shall wish you a fond farewell and help advise you for onward travel.
It will be a 10 day tour that will include an injection of garden expertise but will not be a tour designed exclusively for botanists and horticulturalists……. it will be a tour for people who ENJOY a fantastic garden!
We will only explore gardens in ‘Middle England’… the Cotswolds, Bath and the Mendips, on this tour, and will use two locations and very comfortable hotels as our base. If you are interested in joining us, please submit a request by email to seymourtravels@europe.com
